The Warwick Fire Department is participating in Operation Toy Train. The train arrives at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, at Kulken Brothers on South Street in the Village of Warwick. Firefighters will be accepting new, unwrapped gifts for the Toys for Tots program as well as canned goods for the food pantry. Last Wednesday afternoon, May 19, the Warwick Fire Department and the Goodwill Hook and Ladder Company #1 provided a flag detail during walk out retirement services for Town of Warwick Police Officer Amie McGrady at Warwick Town Hall. On Tuesday and Wednesday evening, May 11 and 12, the Warwick Fire Prevention Team hosted the Warwick Girl Scouts and Cub scouts. The scouts were instructed in fire safety and issued Future Warwick Junior Firefighters certificates. The Scout Troops leaders and members were also impressed that some of the firefighters are also female firefighters and past scouts. Firefighters with the Warwick Fire Department T-633 and with the Monroe Fire Department T-538 attend funeral services for former Chester Fire Chief Joseph Verbert Jr., who passed away on Tuesday, April 6, at his residence in Chester. He was 91 years old. He was a member of the Walton Engine & Hose Co. for 73 years.
