Welcome PES families

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

Sept. 2, the first day of school, is approaching and we are thrilled to welcome students, especially those new to Park Avenue. As you may already know, this year’s school hours will be 8:55 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.

I recognize this period marking the end of summer and the start of a new school year can be filled with enthusiasm. Each year I watch in awe as students arrive on buses, cars, or on foot and enter the building excited to see their friends and tell stories about summer. With each passing day, children will begin getting accustomed to the school day and its normal routines. Please know that our teachers and staff have been engaged with the work necessary to ensure an amazing school year!

The elementary school years are formative and can spark a true love of learning. As we enter this new year, our faculty and staff plan on working hard to ensure every Park Avenue student acquires the skills needed to succeed. These attributes, encapsulated in our district’s Portrait of a Graduate will also help students develop as people and find meaning in a very complex and ever-changing world. This list includes being good citizens, problem solvers, and communicators, to name just a few. Our teachers are always very intentional about this work and I know we will witness a tremendous amount of growth as students move from Sept. 2 to June 25. I also know that home-school collaboration will support them throughout this journey and in future years.

As is the case each year, we will have a brief Meet the Teacher event on Sept. 1. Also, our PTA will host an Ice Cream Social that will take place on that same day. Please refer to the schedule for specific times for your child’s grade for each of these events. Lastly, parents interested in dropping off school supplies can do so during this event.

We look forward to seeing you very soon. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

    Sincerely,

    Bill Biniaris
    Principal, Park Avenue Elementary School
