Scouts from Scouting America Troop 45 in Warwick had an unforgettable summer filled with outdoor adventure, leadership development, and new accomplishments.

A group of Troop 45 Scouts traveled to the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia for a week-long high-adventure expedition. The nationally recognized adventure base challenged the Scouts with exciting outdoor experiences, including ATV riding through mountain trails and thrilling white-water rafting. The trip emphasized teamwork, confidence, and leadership while providing memories that will last a lifetime.

Later in the summer, the entire troop attended a week of summer camp at Ten Mile River Scout Reservation’s Camp Keowa in Sullivan County. Twenty-four Scouts spent the week enjoying the outdoors while advancing their Scouting skills and earning an impressive variety of merit badges.

Among the merit badges earned were Archery, Communication, Emergency Preparedness, Fishing, Lifesaving, Public Health, Rifle & Shotgun Shooting, Swimming, Wilderness Survival, Animation, Astronomy, Camping, Citizenship, Environmental Science, Leatherwork, Personal Management, Salesmanship, Space Exploration, Digital Technology, Forestry, Kayaking, Personal Fitness, Search and Rescue, Basketry, Canoeing, Photography, Wood Carving, Entrepreneurship, Game Design, Public Speaking, Small Boat Sailing, American Heritage, Chess, Oceanography, and Fingerprinting.

The summer adventures built upon an active Scouting year. From September 2025 through June 2026, Troop 45 participated in monthly outings featuring camping, outdoor cooking, hiking, pioneering, indoor rock climbing, map and compass orienteering, team-building activities, astronomy, meteorology, rifle shooting, mountain biking, river rafting, and backpacking. These hands-on experiences help Scouts develop practical skills, self-confidence, and lifelong friendships.

Every Scouting activity supports the four aims of Scouting America: building character, developing citizenship, improving personal fitness, and fostering leadership. Through outdoor adventures, service, and teamwork, Troop 45 continues to provide young men with opportunities to grow into capable, responsible leaders while creating memories that last a lifetime.

Troop 45 welcomes boys ages 11 to 17 who are interested in adventure, learning new skills, and making lasting friendships. The troop meets Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m., September through June, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 95 Kings Highway, Warwick, NY 10990.
