Raymond F. Barrett, Jr., of Brooksville, Fla. (formerly Warwick, N.Y.), passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2026. He was 94 years old.

Ray was born July 22, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Raymond F. Sr., and Margaret T. Barrett. He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in the Ridgewood section of Queens, N.Y. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for three years in the early 1950s and enjoyed great success playing baseball on numerous airbases around the world. Ray spent his entire career at NY Telephone/Nynex and took great pride in his work and was highly regarded amongst his peers.

Ray married his beloved wife Jean (nee Hallenbeck) in 1957. Ray and Jean moved to Warwick, N.Y. in 1961. They spent over 30 years in Warwick establishing many lifelong friendships. Ray enjoyed completing many “projects” around the house, planning family camping trips along the East Coast and golfing. He also delighted in many years of community theater in the Hudson Valley.

Ray and Jean retired to a golf community in Brooksville Florida in 1991 with a collection of their lifelong Warwick friends and spent many happy years golfing, traveling, participating in community theater, karaoke and enjoying endless good-natured “shenanigans”.

Ray is survived by his four children Ray, Bob (Barb), Ron (Julianne) and Cindy (David) as well as his grandchildren Bobby, Megan, Emily, Riley, Marisa and Nic and great granddaughter Addie. Ray was predeceased by his wife Jean (2019) and his parents, Raymond F. Sr. and Margaret Barrett.

Ray’s cremains will be interred alongside his wife at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell Florida with full military honors.
