The park is open from dawn to dusk. Beach season starts June 20. Swimming hours are 10 a.m.-5:45 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 a.m.-6:45 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Parking is $10 per car. Permits are required for boating and fishing.
Lake Welch: 800 Kanawaukee Rd., Stony Point, NY
Activities: Swimming, fishing, boating, picnicking, hiking, camping, grilling, fishing and a boat launch
The park is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekdays, and 8 a.m.-9 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
Beach season starts June 22. Swimming hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-5:45 p.m., weekends and holidays 9 a.m.-6:45 p.m. Parking is $10 per car. Permits are required for boating and fishing.
Bear Mountain State Park: 3020 Seven Lakes Dr., Tompkins Cove, NY
Activities: Biking, pedal boat rentals, fishing, camping, hiking, swimming in the pool, playgrounds, trailside museum and zoo
The park is open from dawn to dusk. Construction has delayed pool opening until July 4. The trailside museum and zoo are open from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily. Pool hours are: 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. weekdays, 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. weekends, and 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. holidays
$10 parking fee per vehicle. Pool admission is $5 per person.
Fancher Davidge Park: 158-170 Lake Ave, Middletown, NY
Activities: Swimming, playground, basketball court, 9-hole disc golf course, walking trails and softball fields
The War Veteran’s Memorial Pool and Splash Pad open for the season on June 30. Pool hours Tuesdays through Sundays from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Cost is $5 for non-Middletown residents. The park is open daily from 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
Lake Superior State Park: 342 Dr Duggan Rd., Bethel, NY
Activities: Swimming, boating launch and rentals, fishing, hunting, volleyball, playgrounds, grilling and picnicking
Open daily from June 27 to Sept. 1, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday-Sunday. A beach day pass is $5 per person, children under 3 are free.
West End Beach: 14 Ferry St., Port Jervis, NY
Activities: Swimming, boating, fishing, softball field and playgrounds
West End Beach is open from June 26 to Aug. 20. Lifeguards are on duty Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 12 p.m.-6 p.m., and on weekends from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. There is a $15 parking fee for non-Port Jervis residents.
Lake Awosting and Lake Minnewaska: Minnewaska State Park, 5281 Route 44-55, Kerhonkson, NY
Activities: Biking, equestrian trails (permit required), hiking, swimming, boating, waterfalls and rock climbing
Hours: Lake Minnewaska and Lake Awosting beaches are open daily June 19-Sept. 1. Lake Minnewaska hours are from 11:15 a.m.-6:45 p.m. Lake Awosting hours are from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. $10 parking fee. The park is open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
Circleville Park: 2284-2290 State Highway 302, Circleville, NY
Activities: Fishing, swimming, boating, picnicking, softball and soccer fields, volleyball, basketball, tennis, horseshoe pits (bring your own shoes) and playgrounds
Hours: Open through Labor Day from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on weekends. $3 fee per person.
Glenmere Lake: Mayer Kartel Ave., Florida, NY
Open for boating and fishing from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. daily. Swimming is not permitted. Florida residents get two free season passes. For Town of Warwick residents, a season pass is $5. A non-resident season pass is $50.
Walton Lake: 525 Lakes Rd., Monroe, NY
Activities: Fishing, boating (non-motor boats), canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding from public boat launch opposite the American Legion
Hours: Open daily from dawn to dusk
Split Rock, Mohonk Preserve: 800 Clove Rd., Gardiner, NY
Activities: Swimming, hiking, biking and horseback riding
The swimming hole is located along the Coxing Trail in the Mohonk Preserve. Trailheads are open from sunrise to sunset. A day pass is $15 for hikers and $20 for bicyclists, climbers and horseback riders.
Wawayanda State Park: 885 Warwick Tpke., Hewitt, NJ
Activities: Swimming, boating (no gas motors), fishing, hiking, biking and volleyball
Hours: Wednesday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. The parking fee is $5 on weekdays for New Jersey residents, and $10 for non-residents. On weekends, residents pay $10 and non-residents pay $20. Park hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.
