Upcoming Netflix series, ‘The God of the Woods,’ films in Orange County
Netflix’s adaptation of “The God of the Woods,” a bestselling mystery novel by Liz Moore, is filming in Orange County.
Filming for “The God of the Woods,” a Netflix adaptation of Liz Moore’s bestselling mystery novel, is underway in Orange County, N.Y.
The book and upcoming Netflix series is a mystery-thriller centered around the disappearance of a 13-year-old camper in the 1970s.
The story is based in the Adirondaks, but many scenes have been filmed in Orange County, including sets and shots in Harriman State Park, Bear Mountain State Park, Liberty Street in Newburgh and Tuxedo.
New York Sate Assemblyman Karl Brabenec recently visited the set in Harriman State Park. “The production, working with New York State Parks and the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, will continue filming through October and is bringing real economic activity to our region,” Brabenec said in a post on Facebook. “Thousands of extras and their families, many of them children, along with cast, crew and production staff are working right here in the Hudson Valley, supporting local jobs and businesses.”
In addition to local background actors and extras, the cast features Maya Hawke of “Stranger Things” and Kerry Condon of “F1.”
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for the series.
