Orange County NY Arts Council Names Brandi McLendon as executive director

The Orange County NY Arts Council (OCNYAC) has appointed Brandi McLendon as executive director, following her service as acting executive director since January.

McLendon joined the Arts Council in 2023 and previously served as operations supervisor, working closely across the organization’s programs, events, partnerships, and day-to-day operations. Since stepping into the acting executive director role, she has helped guide the organization through a period of transition while continuing to advance the key programs and initiatives, including OC Live!, the Arts Build Confidence Program, Sustainable Arts Program, Creative Impact, and the annual Art Affair.

“Over the past several months, Brandi has had the opportunity to lead the organization through both change and an active period of programming,” said Gilbert Guaring, president of the OCNYAC Board of Directors. “The board has seen her grow into the role, and we look forward to continuing to support and mentor her as she develops further. Leadership of an organization like ours is a shared effort, and Brandi will have the partnership of the Board, staff members, and wider community as we continue moving the Arts Council forward.”

As executive director, McLendon will lead the Arts Council’s programs and operations while working closely with the board to build a strong, financially sustainable organization. Her focus will include growing fundraising and partnerships, deepening connections across the county, and creating meaningful opportunities for artists, arts organizations, and the diverse creative community in Orange County, NY.

“I’m incredibly honored to officially step into the role of executive director,” said McLendon. “I’m grateful for the trust the board has placed in me and for the incredible support I’ve received from our team and the community. I love this organization and this community, and I’m excited to continue building on the work we’ve started while finding new ways to support and celebrate the incredible artists and creative organizations throughout Orange County.”
