Warwick: Today and long into tomorrow
To the editor: On Sunday, I began seeing road signs saying vote no on real estate transfer tax. All of us who have the privilege of living in the Town Of Warwick - whether born or recently moved, wake up each morning glad we’re here and have such an active community - serving in public office, working in the schools, hospitals, churches, farms or private sectors. We eagerly read the local papers, listen to the local radio station or television to find out what’s going on. We know that without foresight we’ll wake up one morning and it’ll be too late to slow the growth. The farms will have gone, the lakes and ponds polluted, the view sheds will have huge white houses with glaring letters on their chimneys for all the world to see. Of course, not letting this happens comes with a price. What worthwhile having doesn’t? We all pay for keeping our town in check. And this transfer fund (tax) is a small part for the large picture. We, our children and future generations - thanks to the P.D.R. program and this transfer tax that ensures its survival - will be ever grateful for a Town of Warwick which is not just seeing today but long into tomorrow. So please vote yes on Nov. 7. The question will be on top and it’s the only one. Jo Marvel Hull Warwick
