'There has to be a better way'

Dear Dr. Bryant: I will not be able to attend the meeting this evening, but am writing to you because I am very concerned about the APPR plan. I am a mother of three and I am currently enrolled as a student at Orange Community College. My classes begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays. I leave my house immediately after my third grader gets on the bus at 8:16 in order to arrive to class on time. If this delay goes through, I do not know what I am going to do. Are you going to allow for our children to get on buses other than their own? Will you provide free before care if needed? I am very disappointed how this whole thing was handled. I feel that if there was a plan in motion about a two-hour delay every other Wednesday that us as parents should have been made aware of the situation. I cannot even believe that this up for discussion at this point in the school year. I know there are many working parents that would also have to rearrange their work schedules. I understand that this plan must be put into action one way or another but there has to be a better way than taking away time from our students whether it be before or after school. We moved to Warwick specifically for the school district which right now I am very disappointed in. I would love to know how other district’s our planning on handling this plan. I truly hope the board can come with a better solution to how this plan is going to be put in place. Thank you for your time in this matter. Respectfully, Shauna Smith Warwick
