‘The quintessential bookseller'

To the editor: It was with great sadness that we learned The Book Store on Main Street in the Village of Warwick will be closing. For eight years owner Michael McDermott has served our community with knowledge and personal service. For book lovers, entering his store was like stepping into a calm oasis. Always ready with a recommendation, always stocked with the best and most interesting material and always able to order something obscure at a moment’s notice, Michael was the quintessential bookseller. This kind of care and atmosphere simply cannot be found at the big box book sellers. In addition, Michael gave countless hours to community service projects. His store was one of the stellar reasons our Main Street is so vibrant. His absence will leave a real void in our community. We wish him great luck and happiness wherever life next takes him.
