Thanks, Greenwood Lake library
To the editor: We would like to thank Stephanie Thiel, director of the Greenwood Lake Public Library, and Tara Forte of the library staff for their outstanding African-American History Month Celebration. It was held at the library on Feb 18, 2006. The diverse group of guests numbering fifty-plus, enjoyed a wonderful display of books, compact discs and videos. Dr. Richard Hull’s talk on African-American life in the Greenwood Lake community and surrounding areas was extremely informative and quite exhilarating. The youthful performers from the Glenn E. Hines Memorial Boys and Girls Club of Newburgh gave a thrilling performance of the poetry of Langston Hughes. Young musician Michael Duncan presented a stirring rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Kudos also to Nicole of “Cakes by Nicole” for providing delicious desserts. This was a beautiful and highly successful program and we look forward to this celebration becoming an annual event. Robert R. Fisher, vice president Greenwood Forest Farms Association
