'Thanks for the short cut'
How often we hear complaints and criticism about our teenagers. Let me share a heart-warming experience about some special teens. On Saturday morning, June 4, while on my daily walk, I walked 25 Boy Scouts from Warwick Troop 45 with their Scout Master Scott Brown and several supporters busy as bees, with pitch folks, shovels, hoes, etc., preparing a path from Creekside Apartments to the library as a short cut for the older folks. Peter Wojda, a freshman at Burke Catholic High School, is earning his Eagle Scout badge (congratulations, Peter!). What a sight to see: Great team work led and orchestrated by Peter. The boys in their red shirts reminded me of a red ant hill. They were all busy about some aspect of the task, helping one another, enjoying their efforts and even having fun. My heart was deeply touched by their endeavors. Our kids have great potential. They simply need leadership and direction to that potential may unfold in positive, constructive ways. Congratulations to Peter, to Scott Brown and all the Scouts of Warwick Troop 45. Great job and a good example to everyone. Thank you for the short cut to the library. Thanks to the all the community businesses that contributed toward the project. I understand this is a community adventure. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you all. Once again, congratulations on a job well done. Rita Turi Warwick
