Thanks for supporting blood and bone marrow drive

To the editor: The Goodwill Hook & Ladder Ladies Auxiliary of the Warwick Fire Department would like to extend our thanks to all the donors who came to our blood and bone marrow drive for FDNY Firefighter Roy Chelsen on Sept. 30. We had an amazing turnout: 129 registered donors; 112 collected pints of blood; and 60 new participants in the Bone Marrow Registry. Though Roy couldn’t be there that day, his incredible family was there to support us and to help the donors get through the entire process. On behalf of Roy, his family and the Auxiliary, we want to thank everyone who showed up, sent an e-mail, posted a flyer or told a friend. We would also like to thank this publication for helping us spread the word. The New York Blood Center currently has a critical blood shortage. If you missed our drive and would like to donate blood or join the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry, please contact: 1-800-933-BLOOD or go online to www.nybc.org or www.marrow.org.
