'Thank you so much for helping me start on my new adventure'

As we all get caught up in the back-to-school excitement, I would like to express my appreciation to all who made my retirement at the end of the last school year such a memorable occasion. Having a career in educating young children gave me many daily reasons to be appreciative. They were all about getting to interact with people of all ages, but mostly five to eleven-year-olds, their families and the community in which they live. It has been an honor to have worked as a teacher and administrator with some truly intelligent and passionate support staff, teachers and administrators in my twenty-nine years with the Warwick Valley Central School District. While I am retiring from the Warwick School District, I have no intentions of retiring from the continuing education of myself and my involvement with Pine Island’s children. I’m not sure how yet, but I know it will be around fostering the resiliency of children through good health and nutrition, through a better historical understanding of their community environment and their ability to contribute to it, and through an appreciation of the arts. Especially to Pine Island’s students, I wish you the best of luck as you start on your New Adventure. You’re ready! Thank you so much for helping me to start on mine. Respectfully, Jane Hamburger Principal (Retired) Pine Island Elementary School
