Thank you for providing ‘the wind beneath our wings'

To the editor: Lee Peterson and I would very much like to express our profound thanks and appreciation for the wonderful experience of being crowned “co-queens” at Warwick Ladies’ Night Out. As best friends who have worked together hand in hand for many years on behalf of the stray and homeless animals in our community, we were thrilled to share this honor and recognition. We were also pleased to have the opportunity to promote the work of the Humane Society and tell of the joys and rewards of helping a once discarded, neglected or abused pet begin a brand new life of love, health and happiness. Due to the massive preparations for our giant garage sale on Labor Day Weekend, it was nearly two weeks before we could take the time to sit and peruse all the lovely gifts and the amazing gift baskets. Once again we were overwhelmed at the generosity of our local merchants. It was like Christmas and birthdays all rolled into one! We oohed and aahed over each unique gift and the fabulous gift certificates for al kinds of treasures and pleasures. We have begun to really enjoy all the presents and cannot adequately express the extent of our gratitude to the Merchant Guild. Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Mayor Newhard for his kind and complimentary remarks; to Stephanie from Sweetbriars who started the ball rolling with her lovely nominating letter; to all the merchants who chose us and provided such a fantastic array of gifts and who extend their support to Warwick Valley Humane Society in so many ways. The Warwick community is truly the wind beneath our wings. A special thanks as well to all the folks who made our garage sale fund raiser the most successful ever: those who donated new or clean and gently used merchandise; those who braved Ernesto to find great bargains and support our efforts on behalf of our shelter pets; the many volunteers who worked so hard on setting up, sales and clean up; and most especially to Board of Director Celia Ross who devoted her entire summer to sorting, pricing and overseeing every aspect of the sale. Bless you all. Suzyn Barron, president Warwick Valley Humane Society
