To the editor: As the CEO of a company serving all of Warwick I can truly say I am non-partisan and concerned for the ultimate good of our community, irrespective of a person’s political affiliation. As a member of the Warwick Development Coalition I have the pleasure of working with both Mike Sweeton (a Republican) and Mike Newhard (a Democrat) and based on my experience, I unequivocally endorse both of them in their leadership positions within the Town and Village, respectively. Indeed, my non-partisan concern is the retention of the character and values of Warwick while intelligently growing our overall business economy. In this election season we must carefully evaluate our options. I don’t know Penny Steyer and, based on the success of her business, I’m sure she’s a very capable businessperson and I in no way intend to malign or disparage her. Nevertheless, I find no compelling reason to eject a very capable leader such as Mike Sweeton merely for the sake of change. Many people are unhappy with the tax base in Warwick, yet it’s not due to a lack of leadership. It’s been due to a lack of support for a cohesive plan of growth. Mike Sweeton has clearly demonstrated a keen acumen for prudent management of our town and gives himself tirelessly to our community. In his work with the Warwick Development Coalition he has shown tremendous foresight and commitment to the intelligent growth of our Town while carefully sustaining our quality of life. Especially at such a critical point in the growth of our community I find no compelling reason to change out a person of solid leadership skills such as Mike Sweeton. Mike is a strong leader and has shown tremendous management skills, a solid commitment to our community and a clear vision for our future. Regardless of your political affiliation, what’s not to like about that? Duane Albro Warwick
