Sanfordville PTA holiday party

To the editor: Although many letters have already been printed in this paper regarding the Sanfordville Santa issue, I feel I must respond to a point made regarding Halloween celebrations in school. Halloween has it’s roots in pagan religious practices and is a high holy day for satanists. Because of this, Halloween is problematic for many Christian parents. I am a Christian, and although we do participate in Halloween activities, I know many other Christian families who choose to abstain from celebrating the holiday altogether. As a mom I have had to explain to my children why there are certain costumes they are not allowed to wear and why we don’t decorate our home with the typical dark and gory decorations that some choose to display. My kids have come to accept this as normal for our family. Joanne Devaney Warwick
