‘Rural heritage and open spaces'

To the editor: When I arrived in Warwick 28 years ago from the United Kingdom I couldn’t believe the unspoiled and rural character of the village and surrounding area, given its proximity to one of the world’s largest centers of population. I was entranced by the bucolic scenes and way of life. It seemed to me that the area was untouched by time and the rush of the big city. Throughout those intervening years, much of that rural landscape has vanished. Many herds of cows have been sold off and where we used to buy our fresh milk, houses are sprouting up in the pastures, and yet, thanks to timely intervention and the efforts of PDR something of that charming character still remains. People who live here value that character and other folks want to move here because of it. If you, like me, value the rural heritage and open spaces of Warwick, I urge you to join me in voting yes for the Community Preservation Fund on Nov. 7. Patricia DeBruhl Warwick
