Preserve the community:remove damaged political signs
To the editor: It is election time again and along with that come all the roadside political signs. I have no problem with the signs, as I have put up and taken down hundreds myself. But for some unknown reason this year, the signs have remained up between the primary elections in September and the general in November. Since they went up in August for the primaries and will (hopefully) come down mid-November after the general election, it equals over one third of a year they will have been on display. The problem now arises that since they have been up so long, they are starting to fall over, get bent and hit by mowers that shred them. So now we have this litter dotting the countryside. To make matters worse, I have noticed some new signs have gone up with the damaged ones left on the ground. This is simply littering. The candidates spend time and money telling us how they want to serve the community. They might start by showing respect for the beautiful valley in which we live. Sharon Houston Warwick
