Our tax burden is already horrendous'
To the editor: My friends and neighbors in Homestead Village supported PDR and open space. 1 thought the Town of Warwick was in support of this issue as well but after reading the letters in last week’s Advertiser (“Is it open space or a loophole?” and “Does open space have a new definition?”) I have to wonder. I would like to know who, exactly, is benefiting from this overbuilding because it certainly isn’t the town or the taxpayers. One letter mentions that 150 new homes are to be built. While this is probably a conservative estimate, at this level it means at least 300 new students in our schools. Do you have any idea what that will do to out taxes? Our tax burden is already horrendous. As an octogenarian and World War II veteran, I and other seniors - not to mention younger, middle income residents - may no longer be able to afford to live here. Perhaps the only benefit of this type of development (if it can be called that) will be that people will no longer need a road map to find Warwick; all they will need to do is follow the stench emanating from the numerous proposed sewage treatment plants! Sincerely, Charles V. Rappa Warwick
