Open letter to the Village Board

To the editor: I was pleased to read that the developers of the Red Swan Inn proposal have withdrawn their application until the Village Board has finished the difficult task of rewriting the Village Zoning Code. This certainly will give you, the Village Board, and your advisors time to do a thorough job of creating zoning ordinances that conform to the Comprehensive Master Plan. Not having the pressure or the distractions of a particular developer clamoring for special treatment should make your task much easier to complete. I urge the Board to think long and hard before adopting any provision in the code that would allow the possibility of any site development within the village of the size, density and intensity of that which is being proposed by the Red Swan developers. The impact of the proposed development would have far reaching affects on the already congested traffic situation at the intersection of Routes 94 and 17A, the adjacent quiet neighborhoods and, perhaps most importantly, on our downtown business district. The future of our village and its quality of life, is in your hands. Very truly yours, Ira Rosner Warwick
