Noting the passing of old friends

To the editor: Two of Warwick’s most treasured residents passed away this past week. Gretchen Wyler was the driving force and founding member of the Warwick Humane Society. Today that society is recognized as being the finest in Orange County, and Ms. Wyler’s compassion for animals is a big reason for it. We also lost Bill Raynor, who embodied the spirit of Warwick throughout his life. Mr. Raynor recently placed his historic farm into the PDR program and at the closing he gave me his handwritten history of the farm for the town archives. It was a treasure trove of information that we now have for future generations to enjoy. We certainly will miss Mr. Raynor making his rounds throughout the village, stopping to chat or give his opinion. Our condolences to both the Raynor and Wyler families. Michael P.
