You could win $250 by walking the Historic Trail

This year the “Shingle House,” located on Forester Avenue, celebrates its 250th year. Daniel Burt and his son, Daniel, Jr. began building what is now the oldest house in the village in 1764.

To commemorate the occasion, the Warwick Historical Society is sponsoring a Historic Trail Walk, a fun way to test your knowledge of Warwick’s historic buildings and contribute to the restoration and preservation of the Shingle House.

Take a walk at your leisure through the village with the flyer containing the clues, (available from the Buckbee Center, 2 Colonial Ave.) or the Farmers’ Market every other Sunday )- $10 per person $25 for four people), fill in the answers to the clues and return the back page of the flyer with your name and address to the Buckbee Center (open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) or the Farmers’ Market (every other Sunday).

A drawing will be held at the Historical Society’s annual George Washington Day Picnic on July 26.

If you have completed the questions, and your name is chosen, you could win $250 as first prize, with assorted second, third and fourth prizes.

For further information, call the Historical Society 986-3236. Ask about a special group rate for birthday and other parties.
