'You call that a choice?'

It is with great dismay that I learned today that the Senate voted against the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R.36, S.2311).
This bill would have protected unborn children 20 weeks and older who are capable of feeling pain from abortion. Science proves that babies 20 weeks and older can feel pain. Babies who undergo surgery in-utero get anesthesia because of this.
I am sickened to think that there are men and women making laws for us in this country who would let innocent unborn babies literally be ripped apart or burned in the womb; a place where they should be safe. This is hard to hear but it is the hard truth of abortion.
Are you aware that there have been 66 million babies killed in the United States since Roe V. Wade which was made law, ironically, to make abortions safe and rare. I don't think 66 million abortions makes it rare and I don't think the babies who have been killed and continue to be killed think it's safe.
I have written to Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and Representative Maloney on more than a few occasions only to get the same old response time after time.
"I have children. I think women should have the right to reproductive healthcare"...yada, yada, yada.
Abortion is not and never has been reproductive healthcare. It's murder. Let's call a spade a spade.
Let's talk about choice and women now. I heard today on an EWTN talk show that in a poll of 1,000 women who had abortions, 73.8 percent were coerced in someway. Meaning, it wasn't really their choice at all. The people who they trusted ... the man, parents, friends, other family members in someway or other persuaded or made them get abortions.
    You call that a choice?
And by the way, women still die from abortions and go to abortionists who aren't even certified gynecologists ... think Kermit Gosnell ... read up on him to see how safe his abortion facility was.
Women have complications and find that they are infertile because of their abortions and so many of them suffer from grief, loss, depression, self-loathing, etc., because of the emotional pain that abortion causes. Abortion hurts women in so many ways.
Unfortunately, our Senators and Representatives don't seem to care about that. Abortions are not safe for women and they are not good for women. Pregnant women need healthcare that is safe for them and their babies.
For the first time ever I went to the March for Life in Washington, D.C., with other St. Stephen's parishioners. It was an honor to walk with thousands of pro-life women and men young and old, teenagers and children for the sanctity of life. It was amazing to be there with Vice President Pence and President Trump, our most pro-life president to date, streaming live via the Rose Garden at the White House, not to mention the House Speaker, Paul Ryan right there at the march giving an amazing speech.
It was a humbling experience to be a part of this great walk for life. I hope I can do it every year. Maybe next year you'll be there too.
    Thank You,
