‘Worth every mile’

I am grateful to live in a community with outstanding surgeons such as Dr. Robert Feldman.

When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, she immediately found a highly recommended doctor at Sloan Kettering. Since she lives and works nearby it seemed like the obvious choice.

However, after a few months of treatments including surgery and many tests, she felt like a number and did not understand the choices her doctors were making for her.

Visiting one weekend, I suggested she meet with Dr. Feldman for a second opinion. Dr. Feldman met with my mother for close to two hours, explained the type of breast cancer, the procedures that were implemented and her current options for treatment. My mother left his office feeling understood and finally understanding her choices.

She immediately decided to switch to Dr. Feldman.

Since I had been a patient of Dr. Feldman myself, I valued his expertise and knew would be kind and compassionate. But he went way beyond expectations - speaking with her doctors at Sloan Kettering, and looking at every detail with such precision that she couldn’t help but feel well-cared for.

When my brother and I met with him after my mother’s surgery, he explained the procedure and the choices he made with such detail that we were amazed by his expertise, his level of perfectionism and his ability to put everything he has into his work.

My mother thought she should go to the top cancer hospital to get the best possible care. Instead, we found an exceptional and kind doctor who managed her care and gave us his all.

Today I am so happy to say my mother is cancer free. She continues to drive past Sloan Kettering on her 60+mile trip to her first-rate doctor here in Warwick.

She claims Dr. Feldman is worth every mile and my family and I remain grateful.
