Why this 'uncontested' election is important
As long-term residents of the Village of Warwick, we are keenly aware of its many positive qualities. From its attractive and thriving downtown to its tree-lined streets and parks, from the concerts on Railroad Green to the just-completed Sesquicentennial celebration, the village is thriving.
Results like these don’t just come about by themselves. It takes vision and leadership and we are fortunate that we have both qualities in Mayor Michael Newhard. Over the course of his 17 years as mayor, he has been able to balance growth with continuity, change with tradition, Warwick’s promising future with its rich history.
We know the election is officially “uncontested” and that by itself speaks to the mayor's popularity, but we also know that some voters may say “It’s uncontested. Why should I vote?” and that kind of voter apathy can leave the door open to very negative surprises.
So, it is for all of these reasons that we will be voting for Mayor Michael Newhard on March 20.
