What Zach can teach us

It is with a saddened heart I read the letter from Andrea Wasiluk about her son Zach being bullied in Warwick. I do know Zach - not personally - but I admire his independence when I see him at ShopRite or walking through town. I admire his dance moves on Railroad Avenue in the summer and I smile just seeing him enjoying life. She should never have to worry about him when he ventures out into the world - the world should embrace him and learn many lessons from his outlook on life.

Haven’t we learned to teach our children compassion and acceptance? Parents need to wake up. Children follow your examples of how people are treated.

I have worked with special needs adults for over 20 years and my children have always loved and learned many things from the special adults that have always been part of their lives.

Wake up people - Zach can teach us everything about acceptance - look what he has had to put up with recently.
