What happened to the Democratic Party?
In response to Randloph Hurst's letter of July 11th, I'd like to ask: "What happened to the Democratic Party?"
While I am a conservative, my father was a Democrat and if he were alive today, he would not have remained one.
Your party has been taken over by the left wing, and while your administration is bent on bankrupting this country, all you can do is hurl unfounded attacks on Republicans.
I am so fed up with the ridiculous blanket comments from the left, such as the Republicans do not care about the environment, that they want to let people starve, that they do not care about the "little" guy.
This is old rhetoric that is tiresome and an insult to any thinking person's intelligence.
What Republicans want, or should I say what Conservatives want, is freedom, less government interference, less taxes, more free market principles, deporting illegals, firming up the borders using our military if necessary to do so, balancing budgets instead of spending like drunken sailors, and yes, respecting the lives of the unborn.
While people like you throw names at the Tea Party, I'd like to know specifically what is wrong with people wanting to enforce our Constitution and promote family values that have been missing from your ilk since the radical 60's?
Your social engineering and wild spending and centralized government has led us into the mess we are in.
Your solutions are to spend more and for the government to run everything, including health care. All this while much of the world who used to think the same way you do are moving more towards free market, for one simple reason: It works.
So again, what has happened to your party?
