Warwick is a richer community because of Lisa Ann Weisbrod's leadership and dedication to the Historical Society

The Board of the Warwick Historical Society wishes to announce the resignation of our Executive Director Lisa Ann Weisbrod.
The three and a half years she has been with us have been a time of positive change for the society. It was accomplished with her coordination and leadership of our many dedicated volunteers.
Ms. Weisbrod’s primary accomplishment has been raising the visibility of the society by adding to and better publicizing our events.
This encouraged the Education team to pursue their goal of coordinating their programs with the school curriculum, leading to the recent award for “connecting to the community” from the Museum Association of New York, which enhances the society’s applications for grants
Baird's Tavern is now open to the public as a commercial establishment and vibrant meeting place for our community
The Buckbee Center (former Wisner Library) has become an active space with exhibits, educational programs for the schools, presentations and social events for the general community and is available as a meeting space for other groups.
The renovation of the former UAME Church as a cultural center is scheduled to be finished with handicap accessibility by the summer.
The Shingle House exterior restoration was finally completed and the subfloors installed on the first floor. We hope now to revitalize the building as a living history laboratory with hands on programs utilizing our collections.
Sly barn, behind the house, will host an exhibit on agriculture, honoring the farming history of our town, opening this spring.
Between the house and barn the excavations of the Shingle House dig team have been fenced to allow viewing of the site safely, and some of their many discoveries will be used in programs.
Our concerns about the infrastructure of the Old School Baptist Meeting House, one of the village's iconic landmarks, have been addressed thanks to one of the many grants secured by Ms. Weisbrod for the society. The report will lay out the needs and determine the priorities for repairs. A fund for the restoration was established by Ms. Weisbrod at our annual August fund raiser.
Most importantly Ms. Weisbrod brought organization to the affairs of the society, formerly spread among volunteers and one part-time staff person. Her constant oversight of the finances and business practices of the society have brought consistency and stability.
We are seeking a full-time successor.
Warwick is a richer community because of Ms. Weisbrod's leadership and dedication to the Historical Society and our town. We thank her and wish her well as she pursues this opportunity.
