Wadeson seeks re-election as Warwick Village justice
I am pleased to announce my candidacy for reelection to the position of village justice for the Village of Warwick.
Since taking office four years ago, I have striven to make improvements in the efficiency and operation of the court. With a focus on making the utmost use of the technological tools available, I believe my staff and I have brought the court into a more modern era, utilizing electronic reporting of data, the ability to process credit cards for the payment of fines and fully complying with the requirements of both the New York State Comptroller’s Office and the Office of Court Administration.
With the recent addition of a metal detector, obtained at no cost to the village through a Justice Court Assistance Program grant, we are improving the security and professionalism of the court.
In addition, under my direction, the Village of Warwick Justice Court became one of the first in Orange County to divert young drivers accused of traffic infractions to the Alive at 25 Program, a new safety course promulgated by the New York Safety Council, aimed at assisting our youngest drivers in using better judgement and making better decisions behind the wheel.
Most importantly, however, I pride myself on the fact that I treat each and every person who appears in my court with the dignity and respect they deserve. For the majority of people, an experience with a local Justice Court - be it as a defendant in a traffic matter, a litigant in a small claims case, or someone accused of having violated a provision of the law -is the only experience they will have with our justice system, and I feel it is my responsibility to ensure that they leave that experience feeling not only as though they have a complete understanding of the process, but with the knowledge that they have been heard.
I hope I can count on your support on March 19.
Thank you.
Jeanine Garritano Wadeson
