Treasurer: These are exciting times for the Greenwood Lake Public Library
The 2019/2020 year is shaping up to be an exciting one for the Greenwood Lake Public Library’s community.
Our staff will be undergoing Census training to better assist you with the technical side of the 2020 Census.
Outreach efforts will be expanded by co-sponsoring events with the Village and we will be launching our “Business Café” in the fall to provide local entrepreneurs a venue to access technology and counsel clients.
After almost 25 years since converting the original little one-room building into a more modern library, we will begin the long-term project of upgrading and renovating the interior of our facility.
The items mentioned above are being funded primarily by grants and savings, so they fall outside of our normal operating costs.
For regular expenses, we are staying within the tax cap which allowed a small increase of roughly $5.60 per year on the average assessment.
The bulk of our increases are due to increases in the New York State minimum wage schedule, and supporting increases in taxes and insurances.
In order to meet these requirements we will utilize $13,699 in budget savings from last year to offset any additional tax burden to you.
We invite all registered school district voters to cast their ballots on Thursday, May 16, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Library.
Besides the 2019/2020 operating budget, there are two Board of Trustee seats open.
We look forward to seeing you on May 16 and would like to express our sincere gratitude for the ongoing support of this community.
