'The Nov. 6th election is the best chance we have to check this authoritarianism'
Why would the Saudi Arabian government order the murder of Jamal Khashoggi? He was after all a moderate journalist and part of the Saudi establishment.
Obviously, Saudi absolutist rule cannot tolerate even moderate criticism for fear of losing total control.
We see that the same paranoid madness led the Soviet Union, and now leads Russia, to crush and sometimes murder dissenters and former agents.
Is this same impulse that induces Trump to savage any critic, get rid of any dissent on his party and eliminate government regulators such as the EPA.
Is this cynical mentality behind the tax cut that increases the deficit so as to justify cutting Social Security and Medicare?
The Republicans party for decades have been trying to restrict American democracy by defining "freedom" as freedom from any government regulations, including those that support desegregation, as Nancy MacLean’s "Democracy in Chains" discloses.
The Supreme Court’s "Citizens United" decision, defining money as speech further insures that this party now serves its donors rather than the electorate.
Republicans now follow Trump’s ideology that seeks loyalty as the only political virtue, places little value on the positive freedoms that enable democracy and radically limits the scope of justice. Their efforts to repress the minority vote in Georgia, Texas, Wisconsin, etc., expose their true goals.
The Nov. 6th election is the best chance we have to check this authoritarianism. Your family’s lives depend on it, since Republicans’ denial of Climate Change is a threat to all life on earth.
