‘The needs of the few’

Mr. Eaton's open letter to the community was an insult to the Kings families.

The reasons he gave that tipped the favor to Park Ave are laughable at best. Park Ave visits the library once per year. The same went for the museums/historical buildings when class trips were part of the curriculum.

And even then, the students were bused into the village.

These buildings, which are normally closed during the school year, were opened for them, as well as for Kings and Sandfordville students.

Kings students are also involved in collecting food for the food pantry in Warwick.

The Kings students have also held a clothing drive, collected soda can flip tops for Ronald McDonald House, have written letters to the troops and collected toys for the Toys for Tots program.

Having a building further from the road has minimized distractions during the school day.

It has allowed for science class to be taken outside, butterflies set free and turkey trots to have been run.

Physical education classes, as well, have been held outdoors.

How the board could not see the logistical boon of the location of Kings Elementary is beyond me.

The board may claim that their decision was with the students of the district in mind.

To me, it was not, as the needs of the few and not the needs of the many were taken into account.
