'The best thing people can do now for republican democracy is to think for themselves'
Alternative facts are not facts. They are lies.
Alternative media are not honest media. They are lying media.
If the alternative media’s message were true - that Obama is a Muslim Marxist who hates America, that newspapers are failing because of their liberal agenda, that Global Warming is a hoax - then they might be justified in their opinions.
But alternative media does not report facts. Mainstream media does. After all, it was the liberal New York Times, not alternative media, that took down liberal icon Eliot Spitzer - for hiring prostitutes.
So why do people believe that Trump tells the truth?
Because after they hear some preposterous lie on alternative media, Trump says the same thing, and they say, “Ah-ha! Finally someone is telling the truth!”
But it’s not true. People have been duped.
In fact, people are so blinded by Trump that they will abandon their belief that character matters, that the truth matters; they will turn their backs on the Pope and the Holy Scripture; they will believe that the enemy is Democrats, Republicans and the press; they will join in scapegoating refugees, who are not illegal aliens; they will tolerate the denigration Gold Star families, POWs, the Purple Heart and Vietnam vets - they will do all this in order to stick to their tribal adoration of the moral maggot in the White House.
So I am almost embarrassed to see that any of my neighbors should agree with President Bone-Spur that the press is an enemy of America. The press is no more an enemy than John McCain, than Democrats or than Robert Mueller, a courageous and decorated leader of men in combat.
The best thing people can do now for republican democracy is to think for themselves even if that means abandoning the tribe of like minds with which they now feel so comfortable.
