Thank you for helping Music for Humanity

Jimmy Sturr, 18-time Grammy winner, joined me on Tuesday, Dec. 24, at Outdoors of Chester, also the home of Music for Humanity to pick the 2018 raffle winners.
I gave recognition to Kurt Irmiter, my co-founder, the Music for Humanity Board: John Karas, Charles Mokotoff and Eileen Moon.
I want to give recognition/thanks to some others who helped. A few people were most instrumental in helping us sell 2,054 tickets this year. First, Bill Iurato and the Village of Warwick. With Bill’s blessing I sold hundreds at the Warwick Music Series on Railroad Green. And Bill sold 39 tickets in his store, Peck’s Wine and Spirits in Warwick. Second, to Phil Ciganer from The Towne Crier in Beacon. With Phil’s blessing I sold hundreds of tickets at The Towne Crier. Finally to Jimmy Sturr. With Jimmy’s blessing I sold hundreds at the Florida Fun Fest and at his shows including his benefit show at the Goshen Track for the Honor Flights, his show in Pine Island and at his holiday show at the Paramount Theater in Middletown.
Other folks who were very supportive include Nancy Zallo and the Tarrytown Music Hall, Peter Shafran of River Spirit Music John Hamilton of Singer Songwriter Heaven and Paul Deckaj of Noble Coffee Roasters in Campbell Hall who all let me set up and sell raffle tickets. Paul also donates his space for our monthly Free Performance Night and makes a $60 donation each show. Thanks to Michele Raffety for your amazing volunteer work for us at the Tarrytown Music Hall and the Master Class. Thanks also to Michelle from Bagel Girls in Chester and Alan from the Mobil Gas station in Chester, where I set up and sold tickets. Also special thanks to volunteers Christopher Carter and Arlene Nolan who each sold ten tickets and Annette Conklin who sold five. Finally special thanks to Melanie Doster and the “crew” at Outdoors of Chester where we sold hundreds of tickets.
Thanks to the Orange County New York Arts Council for giving a grant to support our Master Class event with Jason Miles and Rave Tesar.
A special thank you to Richard Kimball and Rick Savage for donating a concert to benefit Music for Humanity and to the Warwick Reformed Church for donating their beautiful space. Thanks to Jennifer Powers and Carole Duffy for being fantastic volunteers at the concert and selling about 50 tickets along with selling T-shirts and handling donations. We raised more than $1,500 at the concert. Thanks to Jim Elwell for doing sound at our monthly Free Performance Night at Noble Coffee Roasters in Campbell Hall and to all the performers who donated a set. And thanks to Nick Butterworth for being our photographer at the Free Performance Nights. Thanks to Carolyn Moran for the photos at the Richard Kimball concert and Melanie Doster for the photo with Jimmy Sturr. Thanks to Jon Stein for interviewing me on his radio show, The Hootenanny Café on WTBQ. Thanks to Orange County Party Rentals in Middletown for donating the use of the raffle drum. And finally an extra special thank you to everyone who made a donation or bought some raffle tickets.
If I missed anyone, please let me know and please forgive me.
If the spirit moves you, if you want to help spread more music throughout the world please make a tax-deductible donation here or contact me to volunteer. We are all volunteers. You can also send a donation to Music for Humanity, PO Box 359, Chester, NY 10918. Thanks for your support!
P.S. I know some of you truly believed you would win. All I can say is “Wait until next year."
Happy New Year!
