Sustainable Warwick wants your opinion on the proposed bag law

Dear Petition Signer,
You are probably aware that the Warwick Town Board has decided to hold a referendum on the proposed bag law, which would impose a fee of 5 cents on most carryout bags in the Town of Warwick. The fee would apply to both plastic and paper bags, and the fee will be collected and kept by the shopkeepers.
The original petition we asked you to sign only called for a new bag law to deal with the excessive waste of single-use bags. It did not spell out what exactly that law would be.
If you signed the petition, but are not supportive of the proposed law for any reason, would you please reach out to us and let us know what your concerns are?
Or, if you know someone who is generally supportive of reducing plastic waste but does not like the proposed law, could you please have them reach out to us?
We are planning a public education campaign on the proposed bag law, and your input would be highly appreciated.
Gratefully,
BYOBag Committee
