Supporting Dan Castricone’s bid for re-election
Summer is in full swing, yet I can’t help but be aware of fall’s presence peeking around the corner. Soon, the full green trees will be bare, their trunks exposed. But first we will be treated to the dazzling display of warm, bright bursts of color as the transition is made.
Like many people, I cringe at the thought of campaign signs competing for my attention and distracting me from fall’s pageantry of leaves. Back when I was a “normal” person, I would let myself seethe at these people who felt their presence takes priority over nature.
Then my husband died in Iraq, and a handful of these people played a pivotal role in my life. One of these people is Dan Castricone, who is campaigning to retain his seat in the Orange County Legislature.
Before he ran for office, Dan was just a man who saw the tragedy that befell my family. He reached out to us and offered a support that did not fall by the wayside when he took office.
His unwavering respect for all military personnel and their families is matched by his willingness to dedicate himself to their causes.
The sincerity with which he fights for what he believes in is a trait I’d like to believe all of our representatives possess.
