Steve Rubin states his case for a seat on the Warwick Village Board
On Tuesday, March 20, there will be an election for Warwick Village trustee. Im thankful for the support given me and to announce my candidacy.
These past three years I worked to develop a community project, The Warwick Valley Jazz Festival. Its goal is to celebrate this great American musical art form in the context of our community and performed by our wonderful resource of local musicians.
Working with the Village of Warwick, local businesses, performing venues, the library, Warwick Grove and an interested public, I set up a schedule of events that would be appealing for our village and to make it attractive for others to come here.
I have a background in music, owned my own lighting business and currently work in the entertainment industry.
Having been self-employed for many years and obligated to find the most efficient way to budget my personal and professional life, Im mindful of how that applies to local governance.
The jazz festival was able to balance a slim budget and utilize resources within that budget to achieve its end goal. Web design, T-shirts, posters, artists and banners were all from local Warwick businesses.
Ill bring the same mind set to my role as trustee should you choose to elect me.
The life of a freelance musician and private business owner is a course in learning to work with others toward a common goal. Warwick is a wonderful place to live. Its an honor to be here and contribute.
But this is not about my personal ambition. Its about hearing your voice, knowing your feedback is important, and for you, the public to know that you will have someone on your village board that will always be there to talk to and get action from.
Please join in and vote on March 20.
