On plastic bags: 'We need a solution, a cure, not a Band-Aid'
Of course, most of us want to do our part in taking care of our one and only precious planet, but as long as the emphasis is only on us, the bottom of the food chain, the consumer, we will not get as far as is possible.
The various outlets will continue to buy and now, possibly, sell the plastic devils.
No trash pick-up service will take anything not enclosed in them and will remain exempt from censure.
There isn't a dump that will accept un-bagged raw trash and they, too, will remain home free.
This pressure to change should begin toward the manufacturers, who have nothing to lose and everything to gain by the proposal to add five cents onto what we are, no doubt, already paying for.
They should be being pushed into research to create biodegradable containers for our shopping and refuse needs. It can be done, as we have seen it done with other products and that would be worth paying for.
We need to demand a solution, a cure, not a Band-Aid starring the usual suspects.
We are the easy, soft target and will comply, while the real culprits laugh all the way to the bank.
Best wishes,
