Letter to the Editor: Undocumented immigrants don’t belong in U.S.
Note: Too long, asked for rewrite.
It is an immutable fact that those who came into our country without proper documentation or whose visas have expired are here illegally. In other words, they committed a crime. That also means that they don’t belong in this country, and it is a slap in the face to those who went through the proper channels in order to live in the USA. In addition, DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin reports that approximately 70% of the illegal aliens arrested have pending criminal charges or prior convictions. This includes their country of origin, which means that they came here to avoid incarceration.
To complain that the enforcement of laws prohibiting such behavior as “cruel” because said illegals have been here for a long time does not obviate their status as an illegal alien. There are many who have taken the side of the illegals, notably the Democrats who gave them free lodging, healthcare, schooling, driver’s licenses, and other perks to keep them here and vastly grow their voting base. Others are paid professional protesters under the auspices of George Soros and his ilk, whose job it is to do what they can to disrupt and interfere with ICE operations. Some are just sadly absorbed by whatever the mainstream media spews out.
All those involved in the obstruction of ICE activities, whether physically or financially, should bear in mind that they are subject to arrest, fines, and/or incarceration.
The bottom line is that ICE is not the problem. ICE does not create chaos. It is the aforementioned miscreants that sow discontent and try to foment public outrage because a vital branch of the Department of Homeland Security is performing the work that they were hired and trained to do, putting their lives in danger while protecting the public.
