Letter to the Editor: Heartfelt thanks for the dedication
To the Editor:
A baseball field in Veteran’s Memorial Park was dedicated to our son, Daniel Prial, on April 26, 2025, what would have been Danny’s 35th birthday.
Words can’t describe how much this dedication means to us. Danny spent countless hours playing and umpiring for Little League, and played many a pick-up game on the very field that now bears his name.
A field dedication requires the work and commitment of many people, for whom we are so very thankful:
Warwick Little League President, Rich DiCostanzo, all the painters and groundskeepers who made the field pristine, and whoever secured the tent to keep us dry! A special shout-out to Bart Amatetti who organized the event and did a fabulous job hosting.
US Army Major Gabe Royal, Assistant Professor at the US Military Academy, and West Point classmate of Danny, who gave beautiful remarks about Danny’s character and their friendship.
NYS Assemblyman Karl Brabenec and Mayor Michael Newhard, who spoke about the appropriateness of the naming of the field. And thanks to all the Village trustees who approved this dedication, Barry Cheney and Mary Collura who attended.
We’re so grateful for our friends and the people who knew Danny who came to this event and continue to remember him and support us. What a delightful surprise to see our children’s elementary school bus driver Dorothy!
Danny knew how special Warwick was and is, and this field dedication is a shining example of this Village whose people we have come to know and love.
Anne & Greg Prial
