Kudos to the Dynamo
A dynamo came to Warwick a few years ago. She was not born in Warwick, has no political aspirations and came not knowing many people.
That has all changed.
Her philosophy in general is to leave this world a little better than it was and her specific area of interest is reusing objects so they do not end up in the land fill, saving municipalities the cost of disposal.
Fabulous programs have come to Warwick because of this diminutive, five foot tall, perhaps 100 lbs. creative, intelligent thinker.
She asks for no accolades or recognition.
If you have brought your broken items to the Repair Cafe, she was responsible for initiating the world wide program here.
She has recruited tutors to volunteer their services to help our community members keep valued items out of the landfill.
Did you participate in Saturday/Sunday's "Too Good to Toss" Village/Town free garage sale?
Yes, another original idea.
Elizabeth Knight is that dynamo. She does all the publicity to let you know of the bi-monthly Repair Cafe events as well as the "Too Good to Toss" event.
Nothing seems too difficult for her to do including appearing before the Village and Town Boards to explain her ideas and ask for their approval.
She personally distributes flyers to businesses to advertise.
She makes signs, telephones volunteers to recruit and afterwards to thank them for their service as well as provides pizza and sandwiches to fortify them.
The Pine Island Thrift Shop is also blessed with her presence as well as literacy programs for which she works.
As Warwickians, we are grateful to have Elizabeth Knight in our midst.
Kudos to the Dynamo!
