Karyn Gardiner announces bid for GWL BOE

My name is Karyn Gardiner and I am a candidate for election to the Greenwood Lake School Board. I am the mother of three children ages 12, 8 and 4.

I have a B.A. in Public Administration & Public Policy and a Diploma in Professional Nursing.

My education and experience provide me with the critical thinking skills and commitment to public service that is required of School Board Members.

As the weeks progress I will share my concerns and ideas for our school district. The most significant issue is maintaining educational and financial solvency as we are facing challenges to our ability to meet financial obligations and to fund state and federal mandates for student instruction and services.

Every decision a school board member makes is critical to the future success of the district.

I am familiar with the issues facing the district as my children attend Greenwood Lake schools and I attend School Board meetings on a regular basis.

Recently, I participated in the Workshop for Prospective School Board Members conducted by the Orange County School Boards Association.

I was the only Greenwood Lake candidate to do so.
