Jen Metzger is the candidate we need
I was fortunate enough to meet Jen Metzger a few months ago and am so encouraged to see her running for the 42nd New York Senate district.
Jen has broad experience: As a member of Rosendale’s town council, former chair of its Environmental Commission and founder of the nonprofit Citizens for Local Power.
Most impressive is her record of working with people across the political spectrum.
She believes in discussing issues openly in coming to decisions.
She believes that government should serve the people’s interests and so she will work for campaign finance reform, ending the “dark money” donated through limited liability companies.
She also understands that renewable energy saves money and creates local jobs. Dedicated to increasing energy efficiency and saving taxpayer money, Jen has worked with communities to help them take advantage of new energy opportunities such as LED lighting and solar power.
Providing a quality education without stressing people’s budgets requires fair funding of our schools and Jen is committed to changing the dependence on local property taxes for public schools.
I was impressed by her wide range of knowledge and her enthusiasm, which is not mere rhetoric.
She knows how to get important things done, and we can certainly use that in the New York State Legislature. So many important bills have died in the state senate. It’s time for a change.
I urge Democrats to support Jen Metzger in the primary on Sept. 13, and all voters in the 42nd district to support her on Nov. 6.
