'I cannot think of anyone more qualified' for town justice
Gregory G. Hoover, Esq., for Town Justice - I cannot think of anyone more qualified for this position.
The position of Town Justice requires two major attributes:
1. Wisdom
2. Clarity of vision
Wisdom is just another word for experience. I have known Greg since 1971 and of his experiences as a lieutenant in the NYFD, especially in the South Bronx when folks were throwing rocks and bottles at the fire trucks when they responded to a fire.
To support his growing family of three girls and one boy, he joined other union workers and had a second job as a truck driver, hauling 80 foot-steel beams from Connecticut to the World Trade Center pit as it was being constructed.
His family, virtually the same ages as my three boys and a girl, all graduated from Warwick Valley High School.
He even worked part time as a Spanish teacher and hall monitor, making sure no one misbehaved during his watch.
As if these experiences were not enough, he put himself through college and New York Law School, and you know how smart you must be to even be able to qualify to do that let alone do it all while working full time and raising a family.
Fast forward to today and ask why do I feel it necessary to mention all these experiences? It is the wisdom necessary to do the job of Town Justice.
The second major attribute a Town Justice needs is clarity of vision. Greg has practiced law now for more than 40 years, primarily as a litigator appearing in local town, village and county courts as well as Family Court, Surrogates Court and New York State Supreme Court to both protect and defend his clients.
I know he is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, but I don’t believe he has had the opportunity to go before them yet.
He has had some good and some not so good outcomes but of all it has forged his unique set of experiences.
Why are the events so his life so very important? Because it is people like you and I that are fathers, grandfathers, mothers, grandmothers, aunts and uncles whose children, grandchildren and relatives that may at some point in their lives and for some reason need justice from the courts: People from all walks of life: People who have been or are now firemen, construction workers, truck drivers, tradesmen, like Greg. Greg knows these people. Greg also served proudly in the U.S. Navy at the time of the Vietnam War and still serves as Judge Advocate for the Warwick American Legion and is a life member of both the Warwick American Legion and the Warwick VFW. He has served as a longtime member and past president of the Warwick Excelsior Fire Department.
Greg’s clarity of vision and his wisdom and compassion allow him to give it to you straight and without punitive or bias discern and render a verdict with compassion but based on the facts presented. He understands that sometimes one night in jail can change a vulnerable, young person who could be irrevocably damaged for life.
We have this one opportunity to grab a uniquely qualified individual for Town Justice. Come out with me and vote for Gregory G. Hoover Sr. for Town Justice on Primary Day, June 25.
