I applaud state's decision on pipeline

I wholeheartedly applaud the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) for denying a key permit needed to connect the Millennium Pipeline to the CPV power plant. With a pending criminal case alleging corruption at CPV, the DEC made the right decision to put the safety of the community before politics.
CPV has previously threatened to burn oil at the plant in order to begin production if they did not receive their Millenium Pipeline connection. This would be an in-your-face circumvention of today’s (Aug. 31) DEC decision. I will be introducing legislation in an attempt to block CPV’s flagrant efforts to skirt the permitting process.
Simply put, the CPV plant should not become operational while the project remains under a cloud of corruption.
