Hydro-fracking is incompatible with Warwick’s preservation efforts

| 07 Jan 2013 | 10:52

The recent addition of two more working farms to more than 3,000 acres of farmland preserved through the Town of Warwick’s Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) program affirms once again our town’s commitment to the Warwick Comprehensive Plan. That plan encourages preservation of agriculture, tourism and small businesses.

These goals are incompatible with hydro-fracking.

Both Sustainable Warwick and the Warwick Conservation Board have recommended a ban on fracking in the town. I urge the Warwick Town Board to endorse their recommendations on Jan. 24.

All concerned residents can sign the online petition at www.change.org/petitions/warwick-ban-fracking-now.
