‘Fracking is not right or safe for Warwick’
The decision about industrial fracking in New York State is scheduled to take place at the end of February when proposed fracking regulations will be finalized.
However, many feel that industrial fracking cannot be adequately regulated.
Also, many feel the proposed regulations are inadequate to protect people’s health and the environment because they are not based on sufficient scientific studies. Indeed, the first major EPA study on this subject is due to be made public at the end of 2014.
Both Sustainable Warwick and the Town Conservation Board have asked the Town Board to protect the citizens of Warwick with the strongest possible legal action to prohibit both fracking and fracking waste in Warwick.
In a democracy such as ours, it is incumbent upon citizens to let their views be known.
To do that, Sustainable Warwick has organized an on-line petition to the Town Board. You can add your name to the more than 800 who feel strongly that industrial fracking is not right or safe for Warwick.
Please let the Town Board know how you feel on this issue by going to www.change.org/petitions/warwick-ban-fracking-now and signing the petition.
