Enough

I’m truly sick of hearing about how the Warwick Valley School Board simply must have more money, despite declining enrollment.

Every year, they cannot meet their costs and we, the taxpayers, are then required to step in and cough up just a little more to make it all work.

I’m tired of coughing up more. My family is on a fixed income; we have to give up things to compensate for your budget shortfalls: To make sure Warwick has the very best in school buses; to give retired teachers raises that in fact, then reduce our own retirement income.

    Enough.

I do not consider cutting back on musical programs and, God forbid, athletic programs “disastrous”—as you declare.

Disastrous is losing your home, something many New York residents are now experiencing.

    Losing your job.

Being truly unable to pay your bills—right?

If parents want bands and athletic programs for their children, if they want after school programs so they can be a two parents working family, fine - let them be billed separately.

These things are frills in times such as these. These things are expendable.

Work within your limitations, Warwick Valley School Board —like the rest of us.

    Really, you can do it.
