Eilleen Gagliano states her case for Warwick BOE
I was born a committed volunteer— it’s my way of life. I never shy away from an individual or group in need and am always ready to face new challenges. My journey includes advocating for female victims of violence, providing seniors with pet therapy and assisting the Spanish-speaking residents of Warwick.
Over the last several years, my many roles in this community from mother to preschool teacher to church ministries leader to PTA President and more have provided me with insights that can only be gleaned through time and experience.
I have proven myself to be a person that works well with others (administrators, teachers, parents, neighbors and co-workers) corroboratively and in a variety of circumstances. My creative side allows me to find more than one alternative or solution to daily challenges and conundrums.
I’m a problem-solver by nature, but beyond that it is my sense of compassion that moves me to stick my neck out where others might not.
There is nothing more important than our youth so it’s natural for me to take on their cause with vigor and stand up for what is best for all the children of Warwick. I believe in every child’s right to an enriching education in a safe and nurturing environment.
It is apparent, from having attended my share of Board of Ed meetings since 2008, that our school district is struggling, but it has great promise.
That is why I am seeking a position on the Board of Education to be active in ensuring that our district grows and advances in keeping with the needs of a progressive learning environment.
It is imperative that we work together, despite the fiscal challenges facing us, to prepare our children to be socially responsible citizens and successful contributors to society.
